SCAM WARNING
Please be aware that unfortunately, on the Internet, as in real life, there are scammers trying to con you!
Scammers trying to cheat you may either place ads or reply to adverts you have placed.
www.ads-for-free.co.uk does not monitor replies to ads, only forwards them to you, so please read the following tips to help decide whether someone is trying to scam you.
Tips
* Never give out personal details eg. bank details, Paypal details.
* Be wary of sellers/buyers from overseas.
* Deal locally with people you can meet face to face if possible.
* Do not pay for goods using a wire service eg Western Union unless you know the seller personally.
* Beware of fake cheques.
* Do NOT accept cheques for more than the price you are asking for your item and refund the difference to the buyer - this is a scam. The cheque will initally appear to clear but later it will be found to be fake/stolen, it will bounce and you will lose out!
* Be very aware of laundering job scams. These are scams where victims are asked to transfer money into their own personal bank accounts, then wire it to the scammers keeping a percentage for themselves.
* If you believe you have been contacted by a scammer do not reply to their email as this will reveal your email address to them. Until you reply your email address is hidden.
* Be extra careful when buying/selling expensive items eg cars, laptops, mobile phones.
* Be careful if someone replies and you believe from their poor spelling and grammar that English may not be their first language.
* www.ads-for-free is not involved in any transaction between the buyer and seller.
* www.ads-for-free DOES NOT offer Buyer Protection or Seller Certification
* If it looks too good to be true, then it probably is!
